About

The Indiana Coalition for Community Protection (ICCP) is a newly formed, community‑driven organization dedicated to safeguarding Indiana towns, rural communities, and local governments from the consequences of unchecked corporate and heavy‑industry development. We believe that growth should strengthen communities; not overwhelm them, silence them, or bypass the people who live there.

ICCP was created because Hoosiers across the state have seeing a troubling pattern: large corporations and industrial developers pursuing aggressive projects with minimal transparency, minimal accountability, and minimal regard for long‑term community impact. Too often, residents are left out of the conversation until decisions are already made.

We exist to change that.

Our Mission

To empower Indiana communities with the information, tools, and support they need to ensure development is responsible, transparent, and community‑centered. We advocate for policies and practices that protect local voices, preserve rural and small-town character, and prevent government overreach that prioritizes corporate interests over community wellbeing.

Why We Formed

Although ICCP is new, the concerns that led to its creation are not. Across Indiana, residents have raised alarms about:

  • Large‑scale data centers and industrial facilities fast‑tracked without adequate public input
  • Strains on local infrastructure, utilities, and emergency services
  • Land‑use decisions made without clear communication or community consent
  • Environmental and agricultural impacts that fall disproportionately on rural areas
  • Local governments pressured to approve projects without fully understanding long‑term consequences

ICCP emerged to provide a central hub for information, advocacy, and community coordination; a place where Hoosiers can learn what’s happening, understand how it affects them, and take meaningful action.

Our Approach

We focus on practical, community‑first advocacy, including:

  • Research & Transparency: Breaking down complex development proposals into clear, accessible information.
  • Community Engagement: Helping residents organize, attend meetings, and make their voices heard.
  • Policy Awareness: Tracking local and state decisions that affect land use, zoning, and industrial expansion.
  • Responsible Development Standards: Promoting balanced growth that respects community needs, environmental health, and long‑term sustainability.

Our Values

Local Voice First: Communities deserve a seat at the table.

Transparency: Government decisions should be clear, honest, and accessible.

Accountability: Corporations and developers must meet community standards, not just corporate timelines.

Stewardship: Indiana’s land, resources, and rural/small town identity are worth protecting.

Nonpartisanship: Community protection is not a partisan issue; it’s a people issue.

Who We Are

ICCP is a grassroots coalition of residents, volunteers, and advocates who believe Indiana’s future should be shaped by the people who live here, not by outside interests. While we are still growing, our commitment is already strong: to stand with communities, provide clarity where confusion exists, and ensure development in Indiana is done with communities; not to them.

Join Us

Whether you’re a concerned resident, a local leader, or someone who simply wants to protect Indiana’s future, you’re welcome here. ICCP is building a statewide network of people who believe in responsible development and community‑centered decision‑making.

Together, we can make sure Indiana grows in a way that strengthens, not sacrifices, the communities that make our state home.
